The Information Sharing Team (IST) within the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) is delegated to carry out information sharing functions under Part 5A of the
Family Violence Protection Act 2008 and Part 6A of the
Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005 on behalf of the DFFH Secretary.
The IST shares
historical information on
closed Child Protection cases under the Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme (FVISS) and the Child Information Sharing Scheme (CISS). For open cases, where the Child Protection worker is known, Information Sharing Entities (ISEs) should make a request to them directly.
If your request relates to
immediate risk or
danger to a child or another person, please contact
Victoria Police on
Triple Zero (000).
If you have concerns regarding significant risk of harm or potential risk of harm to a child, please consider your organisational policies and procedures. If necessary, contact Child Protection Intake and/or
Victoria Police.
Please note that providing information to the IST does not constitute making a report to Child Protection.
If you have
safety concerns for an adult victim survivor of family violence, please contact
Victoria Police or an appropriate
family violence service.
Please
only complete the request for information webform if you are a
prescribed ISE under the FVISS
and/or CISS
AND your request for information meets the relevant thresholds.
